Enrolment & Fees

When your child can start preschool

Your child is entitled to access 1 year of preschool.

From 2023 children who turn 4 years old:

  • Before 1 May, are eligible to start preschool at the beginning of the year
  • On 1 May to 31 October can commence preschool through the mid-year intake at the start of term 3 that year.
  • Children who turn 4 years after 31 October will be eligible to commence preschool at the start of the following year.

If you are considering delaying your child’s start to preschool or you’re not sure about when they should start, please contact the kindergarten to discuss your options.

If your child is Aboriginal or under guardianship (in care) they are eligible for 12 hours of preschool from the age of 3. They will then be eligible for 15 hours per week of preschool in the year before they start school.

Early entry

Your child may be able to start preschool in term 4 the year before starting their preschool year, if they:

  • have additional needs or disability
  • are learning English as an additional language or dialect
  • are vulnerable and at risk.

Early entry is for up to 3 hours per week. Availability of early entry is determined by the site taking into consideration the available information.

Please contact us if you would like more information about early entry.

Enrolling your child

You can register your interest to enrol your child with us by using the preschool registration of interest form. This form is also available from the site.

The Department for Education specifies that priority of access be given to children living in our catchment area. If you don’t live in our catchment area you are welcome to submit the preschool registration of interest form indicating at least 2 other preschool options on your form. Families will be encouraged to contact their local preschool in the first instance.

If we can offer your child a position in the preschool program we will send you an offer letter in term 3 for children eligible to start in term 1 the next year. For children eligible to start mid-year an offer letter will be sent in term 1 of that year. You can accept the offer by filling in and sending back the acceptance slip by the due date.

Before your child starts

When enrolments have been confirmed parents and caregivers will be invited to make a time to visit the site for a tour. This is an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. We will share information about routines, what to bring, policies, curriculum, assessment and other important information. It is also an opportunity to meet staff and share information about your child.

Before they start preschool your child may be able to access orientation visits. Visits are in term 4 for children starting at the beginning of the year, and term 2 for children starting mid-year. These visits are an opportunity for your child to meet the staff and other children, and to become familiar with the learning environment and some of the daily routines and expectations.
